About SOCAN

SOCAN represents the performing rights of millions of Canadian and international music creators and publishers. Through licensing, SOCAN gives companies permission to use music legally and ethically. Through reciprocal agreements with affiliated performing rights organizations around the world, SOCAN receives/distributes royalties on behalf of rights holders in other countries. As a Canadian broadcaster, we only have access to their music repertoires through SOCAN's reciprocal affiliations, with their foreign partners collecting royalties on their behalf.
